Volusia County Jail Roster

The Volusia County Jail Inmate Roster, Florida, is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. On the website VolusiaCourt.us, you can find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, data is available through the official website of the Volusia County Sheriff, by phone, or during a personal visit. It should be noted that the Volusia Sheriff's Office does not directly manage the correctional facility — the county correctional facility is administered by a separate county government division. The online roster is regularly updated and hosted on the portal volusiamug.vcgov.org.

Search Current Inmates in Volusia Jail

There are several ways to check if a specific person is in custody at the Volusia County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Visit VolusiaCourt.us to search for publicly available court and arrest information.
  2. Use the official inmate search tool on the Volusia Sheriff's Office resources page, which provides a direct link to the Volusia County Inmates roster.
  3. The search system on the portal volusiamug.vcgov.org/search.cfm allows you to enter a name or booking number. If the search field is missing, try using the browser's search function (Ctrl+F) to navigate the list.

To start your search, you will need:

  • The person's full legal name (in English)
  • The booking number, if known

Records of juvenile offenders do not appear in the public roster.

By Phone

Call the Volusia County Sheriff's Warrants Division at 386-736-5962. The operator can confirm if the person is in custody if you provide the full name or booking number.

In-Person Visit

You can contact the Volusia County correctional facility directly:

Volusia County Branch Jail
The facility is located on Tiger Bay Road, Daytona Beach, FLPhone: 386-736-5962For contact information for all divisions, visit the VSO addresses and phone numbers page.

Note: As noted by the VSO Public Information Office, the Volusia Sheriff's Office does not manage the correctional facility and county jail branch. Inquiries about detention conditions should be directed to the county's correctional division.

Find Volusia Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person is officially registered in the jail. This process includes recording personal data, photographing, and fingerprinting.

Each record contains:

  • A unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • A list of charges filed
  • The name of the agency that made the arrest (sheriff, municipal police, etc.)
  • The bail amount, if set

Online access to booking records is available through the county's inmate roster portal. If additional documentation is needed — for example, a copy of the arrest report — submit a public records request through the VSO reports section. This division is also responsible for sealing and expunging arrest records.

For individuals who have already been transferred to state facilities, a search is available through the Florida Department of Corrections. A centralized state-level criminal history repository is maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Search the Volusia Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two primary search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name in the appropriate field. Optionally, add the first name to narrow the results. Practical tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one mistake can yield no results
  • If the last name is common (e.g., Smith or Johnson), be sure to include the first name
  • Try a shortened spelling of the name if the full one yields no matches

Search by Booking Number

This method is the most accurate. The booking number is a unique identifier assigned during registration. It returns exactly one record.

What to do if the search yields no results? There are several reasons why a name may not appear:

  1. The person has not yet been fully registered — there is a time lapse between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the system.
  2. The person has already been released — the roster only reflects those currently in custody.
  3. The name was entered incorrectly or in a different spelling.
  4. The arrest was made by another agency, and the person is being held in another facility.

If in doubt, call the facility directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Volusia

The Volusia County Jail inmate roster is updated periodically throughout the day. The exact frequency depends on the technical synchronization processes between the internal jail management system and the public portal.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Delay between arrest and record appearance. The booking process — photographing, fingerprinting, data entry — can take from several minutes to several hours. During this time, the name does not appear in the roster.
  • Disappearance of records after release. Once a person is released (on bail, by court decision, or after serving time), their record is usually removed from the public roster. This is not an archive — it is a snapshot of the current state.
  • Data entry errors. Sometimes a name is entered with a typographical error or in a different transliteration, complicating the search.

The roster is not a substitute for a complete criminal history. It only shows those currently in custody. For archival data on past arrests, submit a public records request to the VSO public records search section or to the Volusia County Clerk of Court for court materials.

Information in the roster is publicly available in accordance with Florida public records law. However, some categories of data may be restricted — including records concerning juveniles, sealed or expunged cases, and information related to active investigations.
